The City Council of the City of Lake Elmo hereby amends Title XI: <br />Business Regulations; Chapter 114: Therapeutic Massage, as follows: <br />As used in this chapter, the following words and terms shall have the meaning <br />stated: <br />ACCREDITED INSTITUTiON. An educational institution currently holding <br />accredited status from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools <br />(NCA) or another regional accrediting agency approved by the United States <br />Department of Education or is licensed or registered by the state agency having <br />jurisdiction over the school. The accredited institution must also be in <br />compliance with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and <br />Bodywork or other nationally recognized certification licensing organizations. <br />ACCREDITED PROGRAM. A professional massage program currently holding <br />accredited status by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation <br />(COMTA), or a comparable national or regional organization which is approved <br />by the United States Department of Education for its accrediting program for <br />compliance with quality and competency standards through a process of <br />periodic peer review and self -study. The accredited program must also be in <br />compliance with the National Certification board for Therapeutic Massage and <br />Bodywork or other nationally recognized certification licensing organization. <br />A. Educational Requirements. Persons applying for a license under this Chapter <br />shall provide, in addition to the general application described later in this <br />Chapter, <br />�d Proof of successful _completion of a minimum of 500 hours of <br />therapeutic massage training /cou rsework that includes subjects <br />
