CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />COUNTY OF WASHINGTON <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2012-062 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LAKE ELMO CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES BY REVISING <br />THE INTRODUCTORY PROVISIONS OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE AND ADDING NEW <br />RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL ZONING DISTRICTS RELATED TO THE FUTURE LAND <br />USES IDENTIFIED IN THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Lake Elmo hereby amends Title XV: <br />Land Usage; Chapter 154: Zoning Ordinance, by repealing City Code Sections <br />154.001 through 154.005 in their entirety. <br />SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Lake Elmo hereby amends Title XV: <br />Land Usage; Chapter 154: Zoning Ordinance, by adding the following language: <br />ARTICLE 1 - INTRODUCTORY PROVISIONS <br />5154.001 <br />Title <br />5154.002 <br />Purpose <br />5155.003 <br />Statutory Authorization <br />5155.004 <br />Jurisdiction <br />5155.005 <br />Compliance Required <br />5155.006 <br />Rules of Construction and Interpretation <br />5155.007 <br />Severability and Validity <br />5155.008 <br />Effective Date <br />§154.001 Title <br />This chapter shall be known, cited and referenced to as the City's zoning ordinance. <br />§154.002 Intent and Purpose <br />This chapter is adopted for the purposes of: <br />A. Protecting the public health, safety, comfort, convenience, and general welfare; <br />B. Implementing the City of Lake Elmo Comprehensive Land Use Plan; <br />C. Promoting orderly development of the residential, commercial, industrial, recreational and <br />public areas <br />D. Conserving the natural and scenic beauty and attractiveness of the city; <br />E. Conserving natural resources in the city; <br />F. Minimizing environmental pollution; and <br />G. Conserving energy through the siting of buildings and encouragement of solar and earth - <br />sheltered structures where appropriate. <br />§154.003 Statutory Authorization <br />
