CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 97-166 <br />AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO PRIVATE WELLS <br />The Lake Elmo City Council hereby ordains that Section 600.21 of the Lake <br />Elmo City Code is hereby amended to read and that Section 600.21A. and B. are <br />hereby added to the Lake Elmo City to read as follows: <br />600.21 Private Wells. <br />A. Dual Water System. Except as provided in Section <br />600.21.B., a private well may be maintained and <br />continued in use after connections made to the City <br />water system, provided that there is no means of <br />cross connection between the private well and the <br />City water supply at any time. Hose bibs that will <br />enable the cross connection of the two (2) systems <br />are prohibited on internal piping of the well supply <br />system. Threads of the boiler drain of the well <br />volume tank shall be removed or the boiler drain <br />hose bib replaced with a sink faucet. Outside hose <br />bibs will not be installed on the municipal water <br />system where dual water systems are in use. <br />B. Sealing of Well Required. A private well which has <br />been declared to be a known or potential health <br />hazard by resolution of the City Council shall be <br />sealed pursuant to the regulations of the Minnesota <br />Department of Health. <br />ADOPTION DATE: Passed by the Lake Elmo City Council on the 6th day of <br />March, 2006. <br />EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be effective the day following its <br />publication. <br />
