ORDINANCE NO. 97-120 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE VISIBILITY OF PROPERTY ADDRESS NUMBERS THE LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL ORDAINS THAT SECTION 540.02 SUDB. 3 IS AMENDED; AND SECTIONS 540.02 3(a) THROUGH 3(e), AND 540.02 SUBD. 4 ARE ADDED TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO READ AS FOLLOWS: Subd. 3 Visibility. Numerals indicating the official numbers for each principal building or each front entrance to the building shall be posted in a manner as to be visible from the street on which the property is located, and shall comply with the following standards: (a) Numbers may not be mounted on doors (b) Numbers shall be visible from roadways and from vehicles traveling in either direction on the road (c) Numbers shall be constructed of reflective materials and be a minimum height of three inches (3") (d) If numbers cannot be clearly viewed from the roadway because of the distance from the building on which the numbers are mounted to the roadway, or because of a physical obstruction between the roadway and the building, the numbers shall be placed adjacent to the roadway at the end of the driveway leading to the building. (e) If a driveway serves multiple properties, numbers for all property shall be placed adjacent to the roadway at the end of the driveway, and again at each individual driveway leading from the principal driveway. Subd. 4 Maintenance. Numbers and the structures on which they are located shall be maintained so as to enable the numbers to be visible at all times of the day and year.
