ORDINANCE NO. 97-120 <br />AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE VISIBILITY OF PROPERTY <br />ADDRESS NUMBERS <br />THE LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL ORDAINS THAT SECTION 540.02 SUDB. 3 <br />IS AMENDED; AND SECTIONS 540.02 3(a) THROUGH 3(e), AND 540.02 <br />SUBD. 4 ARE ADDED TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br />Subd. 3 Visibility. Numerals indicating the <br />official numbers for each principal building or <br />each front entrance to the building shall be <br />posted in a manner as to be visible from the <br />street on which the property is located, and <br />shall comply with the following standards: <br />(a) Numbers may not be mounted on doors <br />(b) Numbers shall be visible from roadways <br />and from vehicles traveling in either <br />direction on the road <br />(c) Numbers shall be constructed of <br />reflective materials and be a minimum <br />height of three inches (3") <br />(d) If numbers cannot be clearly viewed <br />from the roadway because of the <br />distance from the building on which the <br />numbers are mounted to the roadway, <br />or because of a physical obstruction <br />between the roadway and the building, <br />the numbers shall be placed adjacent <br />to the roadway at the end of the <br />driveway leading to the building. <br />(e) If a driveway serves multiple <br />properties, numbers for all property <br />shall be placed adjacent to the <br />roadway at the end of the driveway, <br />and again at each individual driveway <br />leading from the principal driveway. <br />Subd. 4 Maintenance. Numbers and the <br />structures on which they are located shall be <br />maintained so as to enable the numbers to be <br />visible at all times of the day and year. <br />
