Uiffa!ae o ga e "alma
V3804ingt= aountu
xahe ''gIxno, 4uinnesn41;
June 601961
Town Board
East Oakdale Township
Take Elmo)
Minnesota
,Attention Mr, Jahn Day Town Clerk
The Lake Elmo Village pounoil met in regular session this
evening and resolved as fellows;
The council approves the purchase of a fire engine in
accordance withthe low bids.at the opening on May 9
1961. The oost.of said engine to be paid for Can a 3"1
ratio with the township paying 3/4ths and the village
the balance of -ith• All costs for the engine to come
from the respective groups with no money to be with-
drawn from the sinkin fund. A final decistton from the
town board is requireg by the 20th of June or this of.
fer is withdrawn.
Some discussion has been had relative to the dissolving of
the sinking fund, The village will approve such a move under
the following conditions
I#The monies that have been received from insurance be
retained in as much as this money must be used for the
purchase of now equipment:, This could be used toward the
new engine baled on the split in effect at the time of
recei.val.. Tatal insurance fund is $ 249w701,
.*The second oonditaon ie that the firemen be reimbursed
for all purchases which they have made from their own
fund
.«Any balance would be used to reimburse the firemen
for all the calls which they have made without any re-
munerationt The balance used to pay the firemen would
certainly not cover the time that these men have put
in to protect our area from serious fire..
This deois6on is based on the faot that all money that is in
the sinking fund is there only through the efforts of the men
in fighting fixes or in oontraoting with line Springs to stand
by in the event they are faced with a fire.
It has been brought to cur attention by llrookman's that as of
June 1, 1961 the cost of the truck which the quoted on has
gone up and that if a decision is made shortly then he would
do all possible to get the truck at the quoted price. Martin
Brookman would be able.to fill you in with the amount of the
increase if you are interested,
Please let us hear from you one way or other by June 200 1961,
sincerely yours,
Donald Meheikomer
Village Clerk
