Minutes of hearing of October 5, 1971 regarding Daweln Acres Road. <br />Veering was opened at 7:OO15M by Mayor Brookman. <br />All Council members, treasurer, clerk, counsel and engineer were present. <br />Also attending were 30 interested landowners in the area. <br />Clerk read the notice of publication and advised that the notice had been published <br />and proper notices sent out to interested parties. <br />Engineer explained the proposal after which the Mayor asked for comments or Questions <br />from the floor. <br />Janet Berschens,4440 Lake Jane Road expressed the opinion that she would be taxed for <br />about 50% of the road and they had no need for such a road. Agnes Berschens agreed <br />and said that if she were to develop the property that this road would not be a good. <br />location for a road either from North to South or from 'Past to West. (Her proposed <br />assessment 9461.) <br />Mrs. Phillippi: why the difference between Lake Jane Drive estimate of $2.75 and an <br />estimate of $5,00 for this project. Engineer pointed out size of the project had <br />something to do with price. <br />Oar Schmidt: How would a corner lot be assessed? Engineer advised that the proposal <br />calls for all of the frontage + I of the side of the lot. <br />Onno Van Demmeltraadt asked about the water flow. Engineer explained that water would <br />be run along the proposed blacktop and would be banked to alleviate some of the erosion <br />along the roadway and thence across through a culvert Into Lake Jane, <br />Make Settler asked what it would cost to run a swelled gutter from the road to the <br />lake. Engineer advised that this would add on quite a bit to the per ft. amount <br />and -that this was not really part of this request. <br />Janet Berschens asked why they don't make the man that developed the lots pay for the <br />cost of the improvement. <br />Mr. Panasaw advised that he did not promise to blacktop the road and has attempted to <br />keep gravel on the road and make it useable. <br />Charles Gifford, 25140 Lake Jane Drive asked about the grading and the shaping of the <br />road which was explained by the engineer. <br />Agnes Berschen's again reiterated that if she developed any of her property this <br />would not be the area and the cost would be unfair to her. <br />William Park asked the intent of the 661 easement split. out of Outlot A. <br />Mr.Pana.sow advised that it had no intended use and a road would not be put through <br />this outlot. This lot serves only as a barrier. <br />Robert Watson asked about the cul de sac which is contiguous to lot 5, <br />overall size is 120 feet with 801 blacktopped. <br />Mrs. Fillippi, if blacktop is not put in, who will plow the road? <br />Mr. Panasaw advised that he had done At in the past and It would be his responsibility, <br />Mayor asked if anyone else wished to be heard three times.
