MIINUT_2 OF THE LAKE F;I1IO VILLAGE COUNCIL ME,%TI1'Z FEBRUARY 1, 1972 <br />"eeting was called to order by Mayor Brookman at 7:30 P.M. FebrVary 1, 1972 in. the <br />Q , jlage Hall in Lake Elmo, Minn„ <br />Present were: Brookman, Abercrombie,, Friedrich, Shervheim and Park <br />Absent was NAtson <br />Counsel Raleigh was also in attendance <br />Motion by C. Shervheim, seconded by Abercrombie, to approve the minutes of January 18, 1972 <br />as written - Carried 4-0 <br />Acting clerk read current correspondence which was then ordered filed: <br />Wm. Lundquist appeared on behalf of the Planning Commission in regard to road side signs <br />along Hwy. #36. A request has been received to erect two signs directing traffic to a new <br />sub -division in the Township of Stillwater. It was suggested that this be handled by a <br />special use permit. C. Shervheim. moved, C. Abercrombie seconded, a motion that the council. <br />will follow any reasonable recommendation of the Planning Board regarding the placement of <br />gigns along road ways. <br />y' It was again requested that the local police officer canvas the Village and list all current <br />t` ,/aigns/ their location, owners and owners of the land. <br />{.y <br />' <br />C. Abercrombie reported on negotiations of renewal of the Police Contract with the County <br />and the Sheriff's office. There would be no changes except for costs of Officer's wage <br />,increase of 0% 0700.00). It additional charges for maintenance or operations expense. <br />n behalf of the Village he requested that a. daily report be filed, that the officer attend <br />a( e meeting per month, to which the sheriff agreed. C. Abercrombie then submitted a yearly <br />sport of local and sheriff's office activities within the Village during 1971. C. Shervheim <br />moved and C. Abercrombie seconded a motion to renew the police protection contract with the <br />i County Sheriff's office with a $700.00 yearly increase after review by the Village legal <br />tzI Counsel - Carried 4-0 <br />Don Relsigh reported on the Lake Elmo -Oakdale boundary case. There is no decision at this <br />time. <br />ACouncil directed. the clerk to write a letter of thanks to the N.W. Bell Telephone Co. of. <br />Stillwater and Mr. A. Haseleyand others for the handling of the Christmas tree lights. <br />C. Shervheim moved, C. Abercrombie seconded, to allow a 25% reduction in the full and true <br />assessed value of the land of Frank Hoffman as listed under plate #24221-B; also, henceforth <br />any lot which has been indicated as substandard be abated at 75% of its appraised value. <br />Carried 4-0 Plate, # 24221-B <br />Original ,$1800 to abated $$1340 F & T or $447 assessed <br />Richard Johnson reported on his meeting with the County CommJssioners on the Landfill <br />operation in the Village (see Attached) <br />Council directed the clerk to write the County Engineer in regard to County Road #17 <br />P`,e Curb over a culvert near Lake Elmo Heating. .Also suggest that guard rails of some sort be <br />a^ placed there also because of no shoulder and narrowness of the road. <br />
