ANIlthio i:uNw uuu rxvrvamD <br />'OI,1CY: <br />It is our policy to treat all animals in an humane manner, regardless of <br />pecies,breedior disposition.If an animal is picked up wearing identification, <br />t is returned to the owner,only if it is the first time we have picked it up. <br />s give the owner a verbal warning and an explaination of the leash and licens- <br />ng laws.All pickups of the same animal there after,said animal is taken to <br />he cities impound facility regardless of identification..We then try to notify <br />.he owner of the -animal it a timely manner,of its where abouts.Fr°om that poin <br />n the owner is responsible for retrievin% his animal and paying ALL fees <br />ncured.The city makes arrangements with the impound facility for any fees <br />corned that are due to them.We are not equipt to hold or kennel strays for an <br />owger than a few hours and our fees do not reflect this expense -It is ,there - <br />ore i.mparetive that the city/township/village make arrangements with an <br />m0ound facility and notify us as to where the stray animals are to be held. <br />All wildlife calls are treated as a pickup.The disposition'of the wild <br />nimal will be determined by the person responding to the call.Wildlife will <br />zither be relocated,taken to a proper wildlife facility,or euthanized in an <br />umane manner. <br />We will not set live traps from October 1 to May 15 or during inclimate <br />,eather.There may be exceptions to this policy if the situation is life threat <br />ning.and the animal can not -be' cought by any other means. <br />Injured animals will be taken to the cities impound facility,or if the <br />njury is,in the opinion of the response person,severe or life threatening, <br />he animal will be taken to a veterinarian. The veterinarian will be instructed <br />.o perform only stabilizing treatment not to exceed/OOin cost. If the <br />nimal is unclaimed at the end of the impound period, the city will absorb <br />his cost.The city will also still be responsible for the impound fees accord- <br />ng to their agreement with their impound facility. <br />All animals picked up are immediately taken to the impound facility dur- <br />ng their open hours unless they fall into previously described areas. Animal <br />aay need to be housed briefly at my residence if pickups are made after shelter <br />iours.The period of, time for this temporary housing will not exceed. 12 hours. <br />.11 animals will be taken to the impound facility as soon as possible. <br />;OMPLAINT POLICY: <br />All complaint type calls are handled between 7:30a.m. and 7:3Op.m. Caller <br />aay leave a message on the machine,however if it is after hours they will need <br />:o waite until the next day for a response. <br />Urst Complaint: Awarning letter is sent informing the animal owner of the <br />:omplaint and advising them of the cities ordinances. A request to correct the <br />riolation and contact animal control are also stated in the letter. <br />second Complaint: A visit is made to the 'home of the animal owner or to the pla <br />:he animal is housed.The owner is verbally warned of the violation,informed <br />'gain of the laws and the consiquences if corrections are not made immediately. <br />Chs animal owner is also provided with suggestions on how to correct the probl. <br />third Complaint: A police officer is contacted andja-._citation is issued. <br />There is an answering machine on at our phone number 715-396-7769 at all <br />G,imes.If no one is currently available instructions are given to leave a <br />nessage or call our pager.There is seldom more than an hour lag time before a <br />
