Lake Elmo <br />Agenda Section: Planning, Land Use and Zoning <br />No. 9I <br />City Council <br />May 2, 2006 <br />Agenda Item: Metro Transit Park & Ride <br />Background Information for May 2, 2006: <br />At the April 11 Council Workshop Administrator Rafferty presented a letter from the recently appointed <br />manager of Metro Transit which solicited the support of the City for a Metro Transit project to construct a <br />permanent Park & Ride facility in Lake Elmo. Metro Transit offered three potential sites for the Park & <br />Ride (I-94 and Keats, or Lake Elmo, or Manning), and suggested that any of those 3 sites could co -locate a <br />City water tower. The Workshop consensus was to refer the Metro Transit proposal for Plarming <br />Commission review and recommendation. <br />The Planning Commission reviewed and discussed the Park & Ride proposal at its April 24 meeting. Staff <br />reported to the Commission that the City Engineer advises that only the Keats Avenue site would <br />"probably" work for a water tower co -locate. The Commission adopted a Motion both recommending that <br />the City continue to work with Metro Transit on a Park & Ride in Lake Elmo; and, that the Keats Avenue <br />site is the preferred option. <br />Person responsible: <br />Action items: <br />Motion providing direction to staff regarding the proposal of <br />City Planner <br />Metro Transit to build a Park & Ride facility along I-94 in Lake <br />Elmo. <br />Attachments: <br />Time Allocated: <br />1.
