2006 Saint Croix Valley Area Community Family Center <br />Preliminary Survey Findings <br />MethodoloQy: <br />The study contains the results of a survey administered to 515 randomly selected adults <br />residing in the Stillwater Area Public School District. This sample contains a base <br />subsample of 250 randomly selected adults in the School District drawn proportionately <br />to the population of each city or township.. An additional 265 residents supplement this <br />base to provide 100 household subsamples in Stillwater, Oak Park Heights, Bayport, and <br />Lake Elmo. Professional interviewers conducted the survey by telephone between July <br />13a' and August 12, 2006. The typical respondent took 25 minutes to complete the <br />questionnaire. This report focuses on the base subsample of 250 households, in which <br />the results of the study are projectable to all adult Stillwater Area Public School District <br />residents within f 6.3 % in 95 out of 100 cases. <br />Key Findings: <br />1. Awareness of the planning process for a Saint Croix Valley Area Community <br />Family Center is minimal. Only 9% report any familiarity. Among those reporting <br />some level of awareness, knowledge is very noli-specific. Sources of information split <br />between "local newspapers" and "word-of-mouth." <br />2. After hearing more about the facility, support increases to over three-quarters of <br />the respondents. <br />One statement is particularly compelling, with 62% saying they are "much more likely to <br />support a Community Family Center after hearing it: "The Community Family Center <br />construction and operation will not require a property tax increase."
