APPROVED AS AMLDED JUNE 5, 2007 <br />Mayor Johnston read a letter from residents Deborah Steele, P. O. Box 9126, North St. <br />Paul, and John Ames, 9799 51 st Street N., expressing concerns regarding the Keats <br />Avenue and Highway 36. Residents Dale Peterson, 5380 53`d Street N. and Doug <br />Chaput, 9829 51st Street N., submitted their concerns to the Mayor. <br />Joan Ziertman, 5761 Keats Avenue, stated that property owners within 350 feet were <br />notified about Rockpoint Church and the Hidden Meadows development and the 3/4 <br />interchange was discussed at that time. <br />Council Member DeLapp gave a historical perspective on Highway 36 and on Council <br />participation in talks about the future of Highway 36. <br />Consider discussion policy guidelines for city council members <br />Mayor Johnston stated that in response to an editorial and in the interest of serving the <br />public in an appropriate manner and efficiently, he wanted to the city council to consider <br />how meeting in a workshop to discuss how they do business together. He explained that <br />the city council had benefited from doing this a few years ago. <br />Councilmember Smith asked that the workshop address topics of how they respect each <br />other, listen to each other and treat the public and partners. <br />Council members concurred and directed the administrator to organize a workshop on <br />this topic. <br />REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />Mayor Johnston testified at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency regarding Lake <br />Elmo's experience with 3M. <br />Council Member DeLapp talked with Connie Koslak, Director of Transportation with <br />MnDOT about I-94 and the Hudson Bridge, which has 81,000 vehicles/day. <br />Council Member Johnson attended the Maplewood City Council meeting on <br />May 7, 2007, and presented the City's support for the Tubman Family Alliance. <br />Council Member Park commented about the potential for a frontage road along <br />Highway 36. <br />Council Member Smith reported on the tree planting along Hwy. 5 and Marquess Trail <br />scheduled on Saturday, May 19d'. Residents and MnDOT will be planting trees to help <br />celebrate Arbor Day, with food and beverages available after the event. <br />Administrator Hoyt updated the council on the first meeting of the Alternative Urban <br />Areawide Review process technical team and the rezoning process for the Village and <br />south of 101" Street. <br />Lake Elmo City Council Minutes <br />May 15, 2007 <br />
