s � a <br />City of Lake Elmo <br />Workshop Notes <br />June 12, 2007 <br />6:30 PM <br />City Hall <br />Mayor Johnston called the workshop to order at 6:30 PM. <br />Present: Mayor Johnston, Councilmembers DeLapp, Johnson, Park and Smith <br />Also present: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator, City Clerk Sharon Lumby, Finance Director Tom <br />Bouthilet, Jack Griffin, City Engineer, Ryan Stempski, Assistant City Engineer, <br />Wayne Sandburg, Washington Co. Deputy Transportation Director, <br />Nick Thompson, MnDOT sector representative <br />Members of the public attended <br />The topic of the workshop was transportation with a focus on the Highway 36 Corridor. <br />Of key interest were: 1) Keats and 36; 2) proposed Lake Elmo Avenue and 36 and <br />;) proposed short term Manning and 36 improvements (2008) as well as long term improvements <br />2,) proposed improvements to 3 lane on Manning by Marquess Trail (2009) and 5) proposed <br />Highway 5 and Jamaca round -about (2009) <br />City Engineer Jack Griffin introduced the discussion by explaining that the city of Lake Elmo had <br />a number of transportation decisions and input to provide, but required an overall look at the city's <br />transportation plan in the coming months. <br />Nick Thompson, MnDOT, went through the history of the Highway 36 corridor management plan. <br />tie said that MnDOT would work with the city and that the proposed corridor plan could be <br />changed over time. <br />Wayne Sandburg, Washington County, described a proposed overpass on Lake Elmo and 36 and <br />said the county was seeking input from the city before proceeding with this plan since the city <br />may have changed its priorities. He also described the Manning Avenue project, the Manning <br />and Marquess Project and the long term ideas for Manning and 36. <br />Members of the public raised a number of questions about the Highway 36 corridor plan. <br />Generally, these questions dealt specifically with the safety on Highway 36 and Keats and <br />concerns about traffic going through the tri lakes neighborhood including bus safety.
