D. Strategy on Law Suit with Met Council <br />The City Planner reported that it doesn't look like we are making progress toward a <br />settlement strategy. Chair Bell called Mayor Hunt and asked if he and Mr. Weaver should <br />meet with each council member. Bell also indicated to Mayor Hunt that there was a time <br />limitation on offer on table. Council member Johnston said he considered this divide and <br />conquer and was against it. He suggested that the City Planner put together a summary <br />of Council opinions of the end game; and, what it means, as to what council members <br />would agree to. This item was suggested to be used by Marilyn Condon as a case study <br />for the July 18 Retreat. <br />12. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS: <br />Mayor Hunt reported he received a letter from the Minnesota Department of <br />Transportation, which is soliciting candidate projects in three project categories for <br />federal funding for the years 2007 and 2008. Material available can be found on the <br />Mn/DOT website, www.dot.state.inn.us/metro/federalfundine. <br />Mayor Hunt and Acting Administrator Dillerud met with Senator Coleman's advisor and <br />passed along their concerns. <br />Mayor Hunt will participate in the VBWD plan workshop on July 31 at the Stillwater <br />High School. <br />Council member Johnston indicated he has volunteered for an AMM committee. <br />D. Council Member Johnston: Community Improvement Committee <br />Council member Johnston provided a mission statement for the Community Improvement - <br />Commission. The Commission would report to the council. Membership on the <br />commission would be at the pleasure of the Council and would be open to anyone who <br />resides or work in Lake Elmo. <br />The staff was asked to prepare a resolution for the July 15`h agenda establishing a <br />Community Improvement Commission. The official membership of the commission will <br />be five residents and interested applicants can apply to the Council. <br />Letter to Citizen on City Stationery <br />Council member Johnston would like to send a letter on City Stationery to Alison <br />Hincheliffe for her support in saving the Lake Elmo Branch Library.
