Page 1 <br />INTPODUCTION <br />This document is a petition for a watershed project generated primarily <br />by concerned residents of the village of Lake Elmo who own property on <br />and/or reside on the Shores of Lake Jane, located in the Village of Lake <br />Elmo, requesting that consiae-otion be given to the project described herein <br />that in offered- as A plan and method to alleviate 'a potential flooding con- <br />dition on on Lake Jane, all the Mile maintaining the quality of this lake, <br />creatinS only minimal impact on the land, ,over which any crater would be passed, <br />minimizing the impact on other downztrm an. bodies of crater located within the <br />village into which or through which any flood waters would pass, and allowing <br />for the easy incorporation of other flood control plans to alleviate ;potential <br />flood conditions well known to exist on other: lakes and ponds within the village - <br />specifically Lakes Olson, DaMontreville ar& Deer Fond.. Those signees of this <br />petition who are not Lake Jane re0dents represent concerned village citizens <br />who also recognize the potential seriousness of the general high water conditions <br />well known to exist in the village and subscribe to the necessity for timely <br />action to evoi.d real flood damage in the future, realizing that such timely <br />action, properly planned and executed, will allow all of us to maintain the high <br />quality of life also well known to currently exist in the Village of Lake Elmo, <br />RATIONALE <br />The ult3�,ate goal of the petitioners is to file this petition for a watershed <br />project with the board of managers of the Valley Branch Watershed District, but <br />it is being served to the village council or the village of Lake Elmo for he <br />following reasons: <br />(1) Vice -mayor Fobert R, Watson expressed concern about the current high wate:r <br />level. on Lana Jane and requested that a plan be developed to alleviate these <br />potential flooding conditions before any (more serious) damage occurs.
