Minutes of Lake <br />Elmo Village Council Meeting March 5, 1974 Page 1 <br />Present: <br />Eder, Watson, Abercrombie, Pott, Shervheim and Mehsikomer <br />Also Present: <br />Counsel Raleigh, Bldg. Insp. Mueller, Engineer Bonestroo and <br />PZC member; Lyons and Johnson <br />Feb. 19 minutes:Page <br />2 paragraph 8 the title of committee should be corrected to salary <br />committee rather than wage or finance committee, <br />Motion by C. Abercrombie second by C. Shervheim to approve minutes <br />of Feb. 19, 1974 as amended. Carried 5 - 0. <br />Ed LeClair <br />Motion by C. Watson second by C. Shervheim to approve variance request <br />Variance: <br />of Mr. LeClair 8423 Deer Pond Court to build a garage closer to the <br />road than his house. Letters are on file from immediate neighbors <br />indicating no objection on their part. Final approval subject to <br />plans meeting the UBC and checked by building inspector. <br />Carried 5 - 0. <br />Park Committee <br />Council reviewed report on potential option of Beaubien (Callopy) <br />Report: <br />tract, approx. 40 acres. <br />Motion by C. Shervheim second by C. Abercrombie that if Callopy <br />agrees to the amended terms Counsel authorized to proceed with option <br />at $500.00. Carried 5 - 0. <br />32nd St.: <br />C. Shervheim advised council that through traffic on 32nd St, is a <br />problem during winter months because of the road width and the parking <br />of cars along South side of St. It was suggested that members of <br />council view this first hand. <br />Animal Mayor advised that he had authorized B & E patrol to increase sur- <br />Patrol: veillance for next couple of weeks (2 - 3 hrs. per day). <br />Motion by C. Shervheim second by C. Pott authorizing added patroling <br />A report of progress should be made at next meeting. <br />Carried 5 - 0. <br />Lake Elmo Mrs. Beryl Stankey explained to the council that mail distribution <br />Post Office: would in all probability be established for all Lake Elmo out of the <br />Lake Elmo post office. This is the current pattern for other <br />municipalities surrounding our village. <br />Motion by C. Abercrombie second by C. Shervheim that clerk direct <br />a letter to Mr. John Schufman, Postmaster - Manager c/o Main Post Office <br />St. Paul, Minn. 55101 advising that the Village of Lake Elmo <br />is desirious of having their citizens identify with a Lake Elmo <br />Post Office. Carried 5 - 0. <br />Don Delander Mr. Delander requested a variance to move a house which is 1063 sq.ft. <br />Variance: and 14 years old into the Village at 9198 31st. St. N. The house has <br />3 bedrooms and would be put on an acre lot. The home is equal to <br />or better than the homes adjacent to the new home site. <br />Motion by C. Watson second by C. Shervheim to approve variance and <br />permit house to be moved in if it meets the building code for other <br />than size. Building inspector to inspect before issuing approval/ <br />Carried 5 - 0. <br />
