Minutes of Lake Elmo Village Council Meeting March 5, 1974 Page 1 Present: Eder, Watson, Abercrombie, Pott, Shervheim and Mehsikomer Also Present: Counsel Raleigh, Bldg. Insp. Mueller, Engineer Bonestroo and PZC member; Lyons and Johnson Feb. 19 minutes:Page 2 paragraph 8 the title of committee should be corrected to salary committee rather than wage or finance committee, Motion by C. Abercrombie second by C. Shervheim to approve minutes of Feb. 19, 1974 as amended. Carried 5 - 0. Ed LeClair Motion by C. Watson second by C. Shervheim to approve variance request Variance: of Mr. LeClair 8423 Deer Pond Court to build a garage closer to the road than his house. Letters are on file from immediate neighbors indicating no objection on their part. Final approval subject to plans meeting the UBC and checked by building inspector. Carried 5 - 0. Park Committee Council reviewed report on potential option of Beaubien (Callopy) Report: tract, approx. 40 acres. Motion by C. Shervheim second by C. Abercrombie that if Callopy agrees to the amended terms Counsel authorized to proceed with option at $500.00. Carried 5 - 0. 32nd St.: C. Shervheim advised council that through traffic on 32nd St, is a problem during winter months because of the road width and the parking of cars along South side of St. It was suggested that members of council view this first hand. Animal Mayor advised that he had authorized B & E patrol to increase sur- Patrol: veillance for next couple of weeks (2 - 3 hrs. per day). Motion by C. Shervheim second by C. Pott authorizing added patroling A report of progress should be made at next meeting. Carried 5 - 0. Lake Elmo Mrs. Beryl Stankey explained to the council that mail distribution Post Office: would in all probability be established for all Lake Elmo out of the Lake Elmo post office. This is the current pattern for other municipalities surrounding our village. Motion by C. Abercrombie second by C. Shervheim that clerk direct a letter to Mr. John Schufman, Postmaster - Manager c/o Main Post Office St. Paul, Minn. 55101 advising that the Village of Lake Elmo is desirious of having their citizens identify with a Lake Elmo Post Office. Carried 5 - 0. Don Delander Mr. Delander requested a variance to move a house which is 1063 sq.ft. Variance: and 14 years old into the Village at 9198 31st. St. N. The house has 3 bedrooms and would be put on an acre lot. The home is equal to or better than the homes adjacent to the new home site. Motion by C. Watson second by C. Shervheim to approve variance and permit house to be moved in if it meets the building code for other than size. Building inspector to inspect before issuing approval/ Carried 5 - 0.
