MINUTES OF THE LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 20,1974 Pg, 1 <br />Meeting called to order at 5:09PM by Mayor Eder. <br />Present: Eder, Abercrombie, Pott and Brookman. <br />Absent: Shervheim. <br />Also present: Bldg. Insp. Mueller, Counsel Raleigh, Engineer Bonestroo and PZC <br />members Lyons and Williams. <br />Gerald Beach: Discussion regarding a disposal site for disposal of trees destroyed by <br />Tree Dutch Elm Disease and Oak Wilt. <br />Inspector Motion by C.Pott 2nd by C. Abercrombie instructing clerk to write letter <br />to Washington County Board advising that Lake Elmo is interested in neg- <br />otiating a 99 year lease for the landfill property with the provision <br />that the property be used, in part, by the adjacent communities as a <br />collection and transfer site for trees affected by Dutch Elm and Oak <br />Wilt. Carried 4-0 Councilman Shervheim absent. <br />Motion by C.Pott 2nd by C.Abercrombie authorizing Mr. Beach to negotiate <br />with state to have seedlings available next spring (April 15,1975 tent- <br />ative date) for distribution to Lake Elmo residents. Assortment of <br />10,000 mixed trees. Carried 4-0. <br />PZC Appointment: Motion by C. Abercrombie 2nd by C.Brookman to approve the appoint- <br />ment of Eugene Froehner 3490 Kelvin Ave.Lake Elmo (777-5962) to serve <br />out the unexpired term of member TomTorseth (thru Dec.31, 1975) of the <br />PZC. Carried 4-0. <br />Police Protection: Motion by C. Pott 2nd by C.Brookman to approve the appointment of <br />Mr. Len Kirvida 7718 lOth Ave N. Lake Elmo (739-0057) to the Police <br />Study Committee. Carried 4-0. <br />Clerk instructed to write Police Study Committee Chairman L.N.Scotty <br />Lyall and request that the committee meet and come up with a current <br />recommendation. Two basic reasons for request are budget purposes and <br />opinion of some of the council members that we should consider increas- <br />ing our coverage. Report requested by meeting of September 17, 1974 <br />or September 3,1974 if possible. <br />Minutes: Page 1 Lundholm-insert "Mr. Lundholm stated that he intentionally <br />started his house without first taking out the required permits. <br />Page. 2 Lindbeck- Name of the individual is Bob Olsen not Bob Brown. <br />Motion by C.Brookman 2nd by C. Abercrombie to approve the minutes of <br />the August 6, 1974 meeting as amended. Carried 4-0. <br />RECESSED AT 6:30 PM. RECONVENED AT 7:30 PM <br />Gerald Wallace NSP: Presentation regarding proposed natural gas line along the rr <br />right of way and sub -station buildings for NSP and Northern Natural <br />Gas Co. NSP has option on property currently owned by W.Hutchins. <br />Counsel to determine if platting of property is required and advise <br />Mr. Wallace. Mr.Wallace will attempt to get everything together for <br />review of council at the Sept.3, 1974 meeting. <br />
