f19 ME,=u0i <br />RESOLUTION <br />VILLAGE OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING CONTINUED APPROVAL OF A LAKE ELMO <br />METROPOLITAN PARK AND URGING WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OR THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL TO PROMPTLY ACQUIRE THE SAME <br />WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Lake Elmo <br />has previously expressed its approval of the concept of a Metro- <br />politan Park of regional significance within its boundaries; such <br />park being approximately 2,000 acres in size and located to the <br />west and south of the lake bearing the Village's name; and <br />WHEREAS, a quantity of land in excess of 400 acres has <br />already been acquired, constituting the original Phase I of <br />the acquisition of said park site and it is appropriate now to <br />re -express the Village's approval of the concept of moving for- <br />ward with Phases II and III; and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota legislature, in its most recent <br />session, did enact legislation providing bonding authority to <br />facilitate the financing of the purchase of additional land for <br />this park site as well as several others in the so-called seven <br />county metropolitan area, and Lake Elmo desires that a part of <br />these finances be dedicated toward completing the acquisition <br />of the necessary land within Lake Elmo for this park; it is there- <br />fore <br />RESOLVED, that the Village Council of the Village of Lake <br />Elmo, Washington County, Minnesota, does hereby reaffirm its <br />expressions of approval of the concept of a Metropolitan Park of <br />regional significance consuming approximately 2,000 acres lying <br />to the west and south of the lake of Lake Elmo within said Village's <br />boundaries and does hereby urge the Board of County Commissioners <br />of said county to promptly take the necessary formal action, and <br />notify the Metropolitan Council thereof, to assure the inclusion <br />of said park site in the plans for acquisition and funding of the <br />newly formed Metropolitan Park Commission; and it is further <br />RESOLVED, that in the event the said Commissioners of <br />Washington County fail to act formally and promptly, the Village <br />Council of the Village of Lake Elmo does hereby request that the <br />Metropolitan Council, through agencies provided by law, take action <br />
