R-75-15
RESOLUTION
CITY OF LAKE ELMO
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING NO ACCESS BE ALLOWED WITHIN
1000 FEET OF I-694/TENTH AVENUE NORTH INTERCHANGE
WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo has strict design standards applicable to
interchange ramps limiting access to 1,000 feet,
WHEREAS, K-Mart has petitioned the City of Oakdale for a permit to create
an access on Tenth Avenue North 600 feet from the Tenth Avenue North/I-694 inter-
change ramp,
WHEREAS, traffic volumes at the present time may not create a conflict in
use based on the access sought by K-Mart, but the City Council has determined
that there would most certainly be conflict in use in the future because of
proposed developments by Dayton -Hudson Properties and others,
WHEREAS, the present interchange at I-694 and Tenth Avenue North ramp is
220 feet from the freeway south bound lane which does not meet present standards
of 300 feet thus reducing the traffic storage presently considered minimal for
interchange design standards,
WHEREAS, the proposed design of Hadley Avenue as a Minnesota State Aid
thoroughfare would provide a service lane and controlled access for the K--Mart
site thus providing a better means of ingress and egress,
WHEREAS, Tenth Avenue North was approved by the City of Oakdale and has
been completed according to a design that did not contemplate the type of access
requested by K-Mart.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lake
Elmo hereby requests that all government agencies concerned maintain the design
standards at 1,000 feet for any access permitted at the said interchange.
Adopted by the City Council this 6th day of May, 1975.
Maynar L. Eder, Mayor
Attest:
I
Donald Mehsz omen, Clerk
