R-77-4 RESOLUTION CITY OF Le is BLMO WASHINGTON COY %dT& MINNESOTA A RESOLUTION RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGUbPa'1' ou, TRAFFIC HAZARDS ANTIREQUESTING SPEED ZONE STUDIES WHEREAS, the city police officer has called to the attention of the City Council certain traffic: hazards within the City - namely: (1) In the opinion of the City police officer the no parking zones on the North sine of DaMontreville Trail creates a traffic hazard because it does not leave any adequate places :for cares to pull off the road and in recent weeks therm has been a need for parking because of ears used by construction crows working on houses in the area. (2) The City police: officer reported that the speed limits on Olson bake Trail from .fake sane `frail North, on DaMontreville Trail North and on hidden Bay Trail are too high and as a result, vehicles are permitted to travel at unsafe speeds on those streets. He reported that the same; may be true of Laken Elmo Avenue North between 20th Street North and.nStata Highway 212 and can States Highway 212 itself within a half mild in `sithenr direction from its intersection with bake Elmo Aveanue; North and, 15th Street from County Road 13 West; and WHLX}SBA", The City council feels that it is necessary and impor- tant for they safety of the public that action be taken immediately to reduce or eliminate such traffic hazards; NOWe THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of than City of lake Elmo as follows 1. That the Washington County Highway Department and the State of Minnesota be, and the saw* hereby area, requested to make all neoess- sary spewed zones studies on each of the above -described city streets or county roads for the purposes of determining the maximum safes speed which should be permitted on such streets or roads and that appropriate orders be issued by the Department of Transportation and the County Highway Department providing for the establishment of appropriate speed limits on such streets or roads, IT IS FURTHER REScJI,' EDt that the City Clerk be authorized and directed to send copies of this Resolution to the appropriates officers of the County Highway Department and the Minnesota Department of Trans- portation.
