R-78-15 RESOLUTION CITY OF LAKE ELMO WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA A RESOLUTION OPPOSING FURTHER ACQUISITIONS FOR COUNTY PARK WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo has previously met with the Washington County Board of Commissioners concerning the acquisition of additional land for the Washington County Metropolitan Park in the City of Lake Elmo; and WHEREAS, it was, and is, the understanding of the City Council that no further land will be acquired to said park unless the County first consults with the City and secures permission of the City Council foreach specific proposed acquisition; and WHEREAS, the City Council is now informed that Washington County is attempting to purchase additional land for said park - specifically, a 40 acre tract of land lying North and East of the present park land; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it would be detrimental to the interests of the City to have said parcel of land included in said park; and WHEREAS, the City Council has not yet received from Washington County a report of the conclusions of the Planners retained by the County for the purpose of determining whether or not the so-called "Mears' Farm" should remain within the boundaries of said park or whether the northerly part of said farm should be made available for other uses; and WHEREAS, the land the County now seeks to acquire for said park is immediately to the East of that part of the "Mears' Farm" which may be released from the park: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo that the Washington County Board of Commissioners take the following action: 1. Immediately order and direct all employees of Washington County to cease any activities for the purpose of acquiring additional land in the City of Lake Elmo for park purposes.
