RESOLUTION 78-32
RESOLUTION
CITY OF LAKE ELMO
WASHINGTON, COUNTY, MINNESOTA
A RESOLUTION SETTING FORTH THE POLICY OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELMO WITH RESPECT TO
DEVELOPMENT OF THE "MEARS PROPERTY" FOR REGIONAL PARK OR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS,
A. Preliminary studies indicate that more intense development of the "Mears Pro-
perty" (approximately 150 acres in Sections 14 and 15 West of Kelvin Avenue and
South of State Highway 212) will eventually yield a better ratio of tax revenue
to public expense; and,
B. The "Mears Property" is not essential to the integrity of the Regional Park;
and,
C. The supply of prime developable land served by rail and trunk highway - and
potentially central water and sewer - is limited;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELMO, COUNTY
OF WASHINGTON, STATE OF MINNESOTA, THAT:
A. The draft Economic Impact Study prepared on the "Mears Property" be accepted
by the County Park Commission and the County Board; and,
B. The City of Lake Elmo recommends the "Mears Property" should not be included
in the development plan for the Regional Park; and,
C. The County should release the "Mears Property" for public auction to permit
more economic development of the property, as the demand for developable land
evolves.
Adopted this the 19th day of September, 1978, on a motion by Pott, seconded by
Shervheim. Vote: Pott, Lyons, Shervheim - Aye; Armstrong, Morgan - Nay.
Thomas Armstrong, Mayor
Attest:
D nald Mehsikom r, City Clerk
