R-80-61 <br />RESOLUTION <br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION ORDERING A PUMPING PROJECT TO REDUCE <br />THE FLOOD WATERS ON SUNFISH LAKE IN SECTION 25 AND <br />36 IN SAID CITY. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council on September 16, 1980, ordered <br />the City Engineer to prepare a Feasibility Report on a possible <br />pumping project to reduce the flood waters on Sunfish Lake <br />in said City; and <br />. WHEREAS, said flood waters are presently and continue <br />to endanger the. sewage treatment plant that serves Cimarron, <br />an area of 1300 homes in said City; and <br />WHEREAS, said City Engineer has returned said Feasibility <br />Report which.finds that said proposed project is feasible; and <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing on the feasibility of said <br />project was held October 7, 1980, and again on October 21, 1980; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, B.E IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of <br />the City of Lake Elmo as follows: <br />1. The City shall, as soon as possible, commence a <br />pumping project to remove approximately 60 acre feet of water <br />from Little Sunfish Lake to Horseshoe. Lakein said City. <br />2. The City shall make immediate and timely request for <br />all necessary permits from the Valley Branch. Watershed District, <br />the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and any other <br />required permits. <br />3. The City shall also secure the necessary easements. <br />4. The City Administrator i.s directed to organize a <br />committee to meet with the Town of West Lakeland to discuss the <br />impact of this action on the residents of West Lakeland and <br />Lake Elmo and to assure them this project is a one (1) year <br />temporary project after which Lake Elmo will work on a permanent <br />
