LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING, MARCH 17, 1981 -5-
Engineer Bohrer said this is not the current proposal.
Dr. Lundholm asked what the City's long range planning is , and
if the line is extended further, will the per foot cost be lower.
Engineer Bohrer said the cost would not be lower at this time.
If this extension were included in a larger project, then, the
unit cost would most likely go down; but both projects would have
to be done at the same time. He noted that the City has not
defined what the ultimate service area will be in this area.
Mayor Eder said that before the City defines the ultimate
service area it needs to know where &,second well should be
located.
Councillor Mottaz noted that a study of a total service area
would be very costly, and to date, the City has not budgeted
for such a study.
Mr. Goeress said the project, as proposed, is too expensive and
not feasible at this time. The other residents agreed.
Mrs. Lundholm asked if the lot size requirement would change
if water became available.
Mayor Eder said no.
Mayor Eder closed the hearing at 8:45 p.m.
Morgan moved, seconded by Mottaz, to terminate the project for
the watermain extension,,on the recommendation of the property
owners, who determined the cost is prohibitive as determined
in the Feasibility Study. Motion carried 4-0-1 Novak abstained.
ENGINEER'S REPORT:
A. 201 Study Hearing -
Novak moved, seconded by Morgan, to set a public hearing on
the 201 Study, on April 28, 1981, at 7 P.M., at Oakland Jr. High.
Discussion: Eder asked the Administrator to check on the
availability of Lake Elmo Elementary fot the hearing.
