AGENDA MEMO FOR JANUARY 17, 1984 COUNCIL MEETING PAGE 2
Item
6. APPOINTMENTS ( Continued ) We expect moreapplications
to be received within the next few weeks. Therefore,
I am planning to place this appointment to vacant
commission positions on the 2/7/84 agenda, Hopefully,
by February we will have enough applications so that
the Council will have some choice in making appointments.
Interviews with perspective commission members may be
desired which.would delay official appointments until
the end of February (2/21/84 meeting),
Item
7, ENGINEER'S REPORT:
A, 201 STATE 'GRANT OFFER (STEP :2 & 3) The City Engineer
Larry Bohrer will be present for this Council, meeting
to discuss this item, Attached is a letter from Engineer
Bohrer briefly explaining the grant offer and indicating
the necessary City Council action necessary to accept
the grant, The resolution is also attached for this
information.
The City has already signed the Federal counter -part
of this grant and the State offer, as anticipated, has
arrived a few months later than the the Federal grant
offer. We have been expecting this offer and Council
approval is a required formality in order to submit
the reimbursement request, Larry Bohrer will be present
to answer any technicalities about the grant,
B. VBWD 509 REPORT Everyone should have this 509
Preliminary Report; but, if anyone desires an additional
copy, please contact me,
Two reports from Larry Bohrer are attached. The first
report was handed out at the 1/9/84 Planning Commission
meeting and the second report is a follow-up on the
initial report, The Planning Commission discussed this
at their 1/9 meeting, but could not arrive at any con-
sensus, Therefore, they will not be making any recom-
mendation to the City Council on which alternate
presented would be best for Lake Elmo, The Park Com-
mission will be meeting on Monday, 1-16 and will also
be discussing this preliminary report, I expect that
they will be making a recommendation to the City
Council, If a recommendation is made I will relayy this
to you at the Council table, Additionally, I might add
that I concur with Larry Bohrer's recommendation that
alternate B appears to be the best long-term solution
for Lake Elmo, Obviously the major disadvantage of this
proposal is financial
