6, For your information, we have received the minutes from the
January lOth West Lakeland Town Board meeting" At this
meeting, the Town Board discussed the 509 Plan" It was
reported that West Lakeland supported Plan B (pipes) over
Plan A. This proved not to be the case when VBWD held its
509 meeting on January 19, 1984" At this 1-19-84 meeting
West Lakeland came out in favor of Plan A. The attached
minutes from the West Lakeland Town Board meeting indicate
that all the residents in the audience (10) favored Plan B
and none of the residents favored Plan A but no motion was
made by the Town Board supporting either plan. I am not
sure when the official position of the West Lakeland Town
Board was determined, but it most certainly does not appear
in the minutes from January 10, 1984.
7" Attached is an article from the 1'^27-84 St. Paul Pioneer
Press relating to taxes and State Aids, This article
highlights the effort being made by cities and counties to
lobby the legislature for a more equitable State Aid
formula"
B. I talked with Mike Ayers, from Washington County, today
about the landfill and the water committee situation.
He indicated that they are planning on continuing the spray
irrigation system" The County engineers believe that this
process is successfully containing the spread of ground
water contamination and is also removing contaminates from
the water. Mike further indicated that Ramsey County has
not yet named anyone to the "alternate water system''
committee" A meeting between Washington and Ramsey
Counties is being scheduled to discuss this committee" It
is "hoped" that Ramsey County will name committee
representatives at its March 5th meeting and that the
committee will start meeting in mid to late March" I am
sure that Mr. McLeod will, in part, want to discuss this
committee at our 3~6-84 Council meeting (agenda item 9)"
9" Attached is a letter from the Mayor of Oakdale regarding
our 2-21-84 Council action on 50th Street"
