THE CITY HAS NOT RECEIVED WORD <br />ABOUT APPROVAL OF THIS ADDITIONAL APPLICATION AT THIS TIME, <br />REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE LAKEVIEW APPLICATION IS APPROVED, I <br />THINK THE PUBLICITY THIS APPLICATION HAS RECEIVED IN THE <br />NEWSPAPER AND ON TELEVISION WILL RESULT IN BETTER AMBULANCE <br />SERVICE THROUGHOUT THE AREA. <br />6. I ANTICIPATE A <br />MEETING OF THIS COUNCIL PERSONNEL COMMITTEE IN LATE JULY TO <br />DISCUSS CITY EMPLOYEE SALARIES FOR THE 1985 CALENDAR YEAR. \ <br />WHILE COMPARABLE WORTH RELATES TO ONE EMPLOYEES VALUE IN <br />REALTIONSHIP TO ANOTHER WITHIN THE CITY, EVERY CITY MUST ALSO BE <br />CONCERNED ABOUT RETAINING QUALITY EMPLOYEES. TO THIS END, ONE <br />CITY SHOULD PAY A WAGE COMPABLE TO ANOTHER CITY FOR A POSITION <br />THAT DOES SIMILAR DUTIES (PROVIDING THAT ONE CITY IS NOT <br />OVERPAYING AN EMPLOYEE). FOR EXAMPLE, WHILE <br />COUNCIL MEMBERS MAY DESIRE ENGINEERING EXPENSES TO DECREASE, IF <br />THE WORK LEVEL DICTATES THAT THESE SERVICES ARE NEEDED, THE CITY <br />SIMPLY HAS NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE BUT TO OBTAIN THIS WORK FROM THE <br />ENGINEER AND PAY THE FEE THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS WORK, <br />
