R-84-4O <br />RESOLUTION <br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTIDN,REQUESTING THE MN/DNR TO RESTRICT THE USE OF MOTOR <br />BOATS ON LAKES DEMONTREVILLEv OLGDN AND JANE DURING EMERGENCY <br />FLOOD PERIOD. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo as well as many communities <br />throughout . the State of Minnesota, has experienced an <br />extraordinary amount of heavy rainfall during the month of June; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, this excessive rain has compounded the existing <br />surface water problems existing in Lake Elmo; and, <br />WHEREAS, the water levels of of Lake Jane and Lake <br />Demontreville /Olson are presently above their emergency flood <br />levels (as determined by Valley Branch Watershed District and the <br />Mn/DNR) of 924 and 930 respectively, and are continuing to rise; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, these emergency flood conditions are creating <br />severe damage and potential health hazards to the homes, lake <br />surface and lakeshore of Lakes Jane, Demontreville and Olson; <br />/ andv <br />\ <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo has <br />determined that these emergency flood conditions can be minimized <br />by regulating the surface water use of these lakes" <br />` <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />City o f Lake Elmo that the Mn/DNR is hereby petitioned to approve <br />and enact the following emergency restriction on Lakes Jane, <br />Demontreville and Olson until such time as the level of these <br />lakes return to their pre -flood levels of 924 and 930 <br />respectively: <br />THE USE OF ALL INBOARD AND OUTBOARD MOTOR BOATS <br />IS PROHIBITED ON LAKES JANE, DEMONTREVILLE AND <br />DLSON - THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS THE USE OF ELECTRIC <br />MOTORS - UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE SURFACE WATER <br />LEVEL OF THESE LAKES RETURN TO THEIR PRE -FLOOD <br />LEVELS" <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that such restriction shall be <br />implemented on said lakes no later than June 22, 1984 and shall <br />continue until the pre flood levels of 924 and 930 are regained <br />and maintained" <br />
