RESOLUTION <br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING APPRECIATION AND THANKS TO THE "LIGHT UP LAKE <br />ELMO" COMMITTEE AND CHAIRPERSON CAROL KUETTNER FOR THEIR WORK AND <br />COMMITMENT FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FOR <br />THE DOWNTOWN AREA OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo has continually desired to <br />enhance the appearance of the downtown area of the City during the <br />Christmas holidays; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Christmas decorations of the City were <br />deteriorating because of the number of years of use; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City did not have funds available to replace <br />the Christmas decorations; and, <br />WHEREAS, citizen Carol Kuettner helped organize a committee <br />which became known as Light Up Lake Elmo for the purpose of finding a <br />way to purchase and install new Christmas lights for the downtown area <br />of the City; and, <br />WHEREAS, this committee appealed for financial support to <br />"Light Up Lake Elmo" from the residents through a button sale and <br />raffles, local organizations including the VFW, Jaycees, Lions, the <br />Lake Elmo Business Association, local private business and the Fire <br />Department of the City; and, <br />WHEREAS, this appeal met with tremendous support and <br />financial success, making possible the purchase of Christmas <br />decorations for the downtown area, therefore, fulfilling the purpose <br />to "Light Up Lake Elmo" during the Christmas holidays. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the <br />City of Lake Elmo hereby expesses its thanks and appreciation to the <br />Light Up Lake Elmo Committee and its Chairperson, Carol Kuettner for <br />their diligent work in fulfilling their commitment to "Light Up Lake <br />Elmo". <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of <br />Lake Elmo extends its thanks and appreciation to all the residents, <br />organizations, private businesses and individual contributors for <br />their donations and support of the Light Up sake Elmo project. <br />ADOPTED this 18th day of December, 1984, by the City Council <br />of the City of Lake Elmo, Washington County, Minnesota. <br />ATTEST: <br />Patrick D.
