RESOLUTION 85-13 f <br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING POSSIBLE LEGISLATION INITIATED BY THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY REGARDING COMPENSATION AND MITIGATION POLICIES FOR <br />COMMUNITIES HOSTING LANDFILLS <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo had the Ramsey/Washington <br />County Landfill Site No. 1 located within the City of Lake Elmo and <br />was in operation in the early 1970's; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo is opposed <br />to landfills as the main method to eliminate waste and supports any <br />efforts to eliminate future needs for landfills such as recycling and <br />composting; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo has experienced a number of <br />problems relating to the landfill sites including ground water <br />contamination of residential wells within the area of the landfill; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo is experienced in dealing with <br />these problems and is sympathetic to other communities that may be <br />considered for landfill sites; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo has been informed and updated <br />by the City of Ramsey regarding proposed legislation dealing with the <br />compensation and mitigation policies for communities hosting <br />landfills. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City <br />of Lake Elmo that Lake Elmo supports the efforts of the City of Ramsey <br />to obtain legislation which would provide compensation and mitigation <br />policies for communities hosting landfills. <br />ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo this 2nd <br />day of April, 1985. <br />Signed: <br />David A.
