Examples of these reports are Annual
Certification of Mileage, Needs Study Update, Report of State Aid Contract, and Report of Final
Estimate. TKDA, as your City Engineer, has submitted these reports in the past and will
continue to do so in the future.
The reporting for Lake Ehno is quite simple and requires only about 40 hours per year,
depending upon how many State Aid projects are completed each year. But, for larger cites, this
reporting is very cumbersome. The Department of Transportation is planning to computerize this
data and in the near future, this annual reporting will have to be transmitted electronically to
MnDOT.
MnDOT conducted a survey of some cities and found that some were not computerized or were
computerized with non -compatible equipment. To overcome this difficulty, MnDOT has
negotiated a hardware and software package that can be purchased by cities at a 60% State-40%
City cost. The State's share is paid for out of an administrative fund and will not affect the
City's maintenance or construction allotinents. If the City purchased the entire package as
itemized on the attached sheets, the State negotiated price is $8,313.00 of which $3,325.20 would
be the City's share. Since the City is considering upgrading its computer system in the near
future, this package may be of interest to you. If your present computer system meets your
needs, it would not be prudent to buy the package just to do State Aid reporting. For those cities
not purchasing the package, TKDA will purchase the Metafile/Metaview software which can be
run on TKDA's existing hardware. TKDA will continue to do your State Aid reporting and
amortize the cost of the software over all the cities for which we do the reporting.
