MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET <br />SCREEN -ETCH <br />SECTION V HEALTH HAZARD DATA <br />SHORT TERM EXPOSURE: <br />PAGE 2 <br />Causes severe irritation and deep-seated burns of the eyes and eyelids if <br />it comes in contact with the eyes.If the chemical is not removed <br />irrmediatly, permenent visual defects or blindness may result. When lower <br />concentrations (20% or less) come in contact with the skin, the resultinE <br />burns do not usually become apparent for several hours. Skin contact <br />with higher concentrations is usually apparent in a much shorter period," <br />if not-immediatly. The skin burns may be very severe and painful. The <br />material is a severe irritant to the nose, throat and lungs. Severe <br />exposure causes rapid inflammation and congestion of the lungs. Death <br />may occur from severe exposures. If swallowed, it will imnediatly cause <br />severe damage to the throat and stomach. <br />C-TERM EXPOSURE: <br />Prolonged or repeated exposure to lower concentrations of vapors may <br />cause changes in the bones. Exposure to low concentrations may also <br />cause chronic irritation and congestion of the nose, throat and bronchia: <br />tubes. <br />EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURES.. <br />Eye Exposure - If solution gets into the eyes, wash immediately with <br />large amounts of water, lifting the lower ans upper eyelids <br />occasionally. Get medical attention immediately. Contact lens should <br />not be worn when working with this material. <br />Skin Exposure - If solution gets on the skin, immediately flush the <br />contaminated skin with water for a considerable time. If the solution <br />penetrates through the clothing, remove the clothing immediately and <br />flush the skin with water for a considerable time. Get medical attentioi <br />immed1atIy. <br />Inhalation - If a person breathes in large amounts of vapor, move the <br />exposed person to fresh air at once. If breathing has stopped, perform <br />artificial respiration. Get medical attention as soon as possible. <br />Swallowing - If solution has been swallowed , and the person is <br />conscious, give them large quantities of water immediately. Do Not <br />attempt to make the exposed person vomit. Get medical attention <br />irrmediately. <br />
