LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES MAY 17, 1994 <br />M/S/C Johnson/John - to adopt Resolution No. 94-15, as amended (change the <br />acreage from 440 to 464 acres), amending Resolution 84-33. (Motion carried 4- <br />1:Mottaz:Same reason stated before) <br />7. CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT: <br />A. Cost estimate for expansion of city hall parking lot <br />The Council received a report from Larry Bohrer, dated May 13, 1994, explaining <br />the city hall parking lot could be expanded to the west creating 36 additional <br />parking spaces. This would increase the total city hall parking to 56 plus 2 <br />handicap stalls. The estimated total cost is $13,070.00. This letter was also sent <br />to School District 834 for their response. <br />8. CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT: None <br />9. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS: <br />Mayor John reported on the May 12 meeting regarding the traffic signal project <br />at Manning Avenue (CSAH 15) and TH 36. The agreement calls for the County <br />to perform the painting, cleaning and relamping and for the City to pay one - <br />quarter of the electricity costs ($30/month). Grant, Stillwater and Baytown <br />Township will also pay one -quarter of the electricity costs. The County will bill <br />each municipality yearly. <br />Mayor John presented the concept plan on the city center to the School <br />Board Members of 834. They were supportive of the concept, but as the plan <br />develops, the need for space around the Lake Elmo Elementary school should <br />be recognized. <br />Council member Conlin reported on the cable commission meeting where any <br />amendments to the joint powers agreement were tabled. A committee got <br />together to look at the franchise renewal and decided to have a committee of the <br />cities, consisting of the city administrators, to set parameters for a new franchise. <br />Councilman Johnson reported members of the Lake Elmo Jaycees and Parks <br />Commission planted 16 large trees that the Jaycees contributed in five parks <br />around play ground areas to provide shade In the future. On Thursday, 32 <br />children from Sandy Fisk's' 3rd grade class and 10 parents planted 250 small <br />seedlings in Sunfish Park. On the last day of school, this class will return to water <br />the trees. <br />Councilman Mottaz submitted a letter from Attorney Filla, dated April 22, 1994, <br />addressing the question of front yard designation and shoreland regulations. <br />
