CITY OF LAKE ELMO
SPECIAL MEETING
JUNE 7, 1996
Mayor John called the special council meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. PRESENT: John, DeLapp,
Conlin, Johnston and City Engineer Bohrer. ABSENT: Hunt
SE 1/4 Section 33 Sewer and Watermain Improvements:
Larry Bohrer submitted his memo dated June 7,1996 that included a tabulation of bids. The City
received extremely competitive bids that will result in a total project substantially less than
estimated for the Improvement hearing. Bohrer recommended that the contract be awarded to
the lower bidder, S. J. Louis Construction, Inc. in the amount of their low bid of $379,850.82.
Alternate bids were received for oversizing of certain features so that the sewered service area
could be expanded in the future without major reconstruction of the system. The additional
construction cost for oversizing is $22,767.54. Bohrer recommended that alternate bid items Al,
A2, and A3 be accepted and awarded in the amount of $17,738.48.
United Properties, being the majority property owner, asks that they be allowed to review the bids
prior to award.
M/S/P Conlin/Johnston - to award the base bid to S. J. Louis Construction for the SE 1/4 Section
33 Sewer and Watermain Improvements in the amount of $379,850.82 and accept the alternate
bid items Al, A2 and A3 in the amount of $17,738.48. (Motion passed 3-1:DeLapp).
