This coming year MEDP will unveil its new three-year strategic plan. This <br />ambitious plan sets high standards for performance and reinforces MEDP's firm commitment to <br />measurable goals. Copies will be mailed in early 1999. <br />In the past three years, MEDP has been involved in successful economic development projects <br />that have resulted in over $220 million in new capital investment. These projects have resulted <br />in more than 7,100 new and retained jobs. It is upon this base that the organization hopes to <br />build. <br />The Board of Directors has charted a new course for MEDP. The organization will be focusing <br />its efforts on attracting investment into the region. Investment in land, buildings, technology, <br />and the work force. MEDP will be working with expanding businesses that use the latest <br />technology and skills. <br />MEDP is also Minnesota's first economic development organization,to begin an industry cluster <br />program. Working with the Information Technology Council, MEDP will hire a specialist to <br />begin work with the exciting and expanding information technology industry. <br />MEDP will also be initiating an investor relations program in 1999. This program is aimed at <br />keeping investors aware of our activities. We also hope to provide investors with business <br />opportunities and opportunities to participate in MEDP projects. <br />The Metro East Development Foundation has also been organized.
