Public Hearing Announcement
Livestock Ordinance to be Discussed on February 18thThe Lake Elmo City Council will be holding a Public Hearing on February 18, 2014 at 7 pm at Lake Elmo City
Hall to consider amending the city code to permit the keeping of livestock on parcels smaller than 10 acres.
Also included in the proposal is to specifically permit the keeping of both chickens and bees on parcels smaller than 5 acres. Over the past two years, City staff has received numerous requests and inquiries from residents and other individuals seeking to keep this type of livestock on lots smaller than the current requirement of 10 acres. Backyard chicken and beekeeping has gained popularity in urban and suburban settings the past
several years. Several area cities have recently taken up the chicken and/or beekeeping issue including
neighboring Stillwater, which amended its ordinances in 2012 to permit both chickens and bees. The City invites the public to attend the council meeting and provide input. Written comments regarding the proposal may be submitted to the City no later than noon on the day of the meeting. Materials regarding the

View Lake Elmo's Bonding Request
The City of Lake Elmo is requesting $4,000,000 in state bond funding to acquire land and easements, design, construct, furnish and equip a new water booster station and trunk watermain lines along Inwood Avenue and
Lake Elmo Avenue from the existing water system to serve southern Lake Elmo, as well as construction of a
new water tower at the corner of Inwood Avenue and 10th Street.
The public purpose of this request is to bring clean, potable water to residents, business and other entitiesl. The
project further addresses a long term sustainable solution for the delivery of safe drinking
water to much of Lake Elmo affected by the underlying PFC groundwater contamination.
