Mayor Facilitates POLICY RECOMMENDER: Engineering FISCAL IMPACT: No additional fiscal impact. Final payment is proposed in accordance with the Contract for the project. Payment remains within authorized contract amount and approved change orders for the project. SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED: The City Council is respectfully requested to consider, as part of the consent agenda, accepting the improvements and approving Pay Request No. 6 (Final) to Redstone Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of $102,675.20 for the Section 34 Water and Sewer Utility Extension Improvements. The work has been reviewed by the Engineer and is fully completed in accordance with the Contract, Plans and Specifications, and Change Orders. If removed from the consent agenda, the recommended motion for this action is as follows: City Council Meeting [Consent Agenda Item 9] July 15, 2014 -- page 2 -- “Move to accept the improvements for the Section 34 Water and Sewer Utility Extension Improvements and approve Pay Request No. 6 (Final) to Redstone Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of $102,675.20.” LEGISLATIVE HISTORY/BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Redstone Construction Company, Inc. has completed the Section 34 Water and Sewer Utility Extension Improvements in accordance with the construction contract awarded by the council on September 3, 2013. The Project Engineer has prepared a Certification of Completion indicating that all work is completed including all punchlist items and is recommending acceptance of the improvements and release of the final retainage. Project acceptance will initiate the one-year warranty period for the improvements. The one-year warranty period will begin on July 15, 2014 and will extend to July 15, 2015. The final construction cost for the project is $1,704,681.96 which is $2,797.46 over the original contract amount of $1,701,884.50. The total project cost remains under budget and is being funded 100% by assessments to the benefitting properties in Section 34. Final payment will be made to the Contractor, including the release of all retained funds, upon receipt of all lien waivers from the Contractor. RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending that the City Council consider approving, as part of the Consent Agenda, accepting the improvements for Section 34 Water and Sewer Utility Extension Improvements, and approving Pay Request No. 6 (Final) in the amount of $102,675.20. If removed from the consent agenda, the recommended motion for this action is as follows: “Move to accept the improvements for the Section 34 Water and Sewer Utility Extension Improvements and approve Pay Request No. 6 (Final) to Redstone Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of $102,675.20.” ATTACHMENT(S): 1.
