This change order reconciles the estimated and actual quantities installed on the project and
increases the contract amount by $6,796.50. The final construction contract amount is $765,041.25 or 2.2% over the original construction contract award. SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED:
The City Council is respectfully requested to consider approving, as part of the consent agenda, Compensating Change Order No. 2 for the Pumphouse 4 Improvements to reconcile the estimated and actual quantities installed on the project. If removed from the consent agenda, the recommended motion for the action is as follows:
“Move to approve Compensating Change Order No. 2 for the Pumphouse No. 4 Improvements
thereby increasing the final contract amount by $6,796.50.”

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY/BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Total Mechanical, Inc. was awarded a construction contract on February 18, 2014 to complete the Pumphouse No. 4 Improvements. The contractor has completed the work in accordance with the contract, plans and specifications; and with approval of this change order the contract amount
will be adjusted to reflect quantities actually installed as a part of the project.
The overall increase in the contract amount for this change order is $6,796.50 as detailed on the attached itemization. Quantity increases were seen in two areas including topsoil borrow and select granular borrow material. A greater amount of topsoil was imported to the site than was
originally planned due to the lack of existing topsoil which could be salvaged on site. Extra
select granular borrow material was imported to make soil corrections under the footing of the building. Soil corrections were needed to replace unforeseen poor soil conditions. The final construction contract amount is $765,041.25 or 2.2% over the original construction
contract award. The overall project remains within the budget originally approved by Council on
February 18, 2014. RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending that the City Council consider, as part of the Consent Agenda, approving
Compensating Change Order No. 2 for the Pumphouse No. 4 Improvements thereby increasing the final contract amount by $6,796.50. If removed from the consent agenda, the recommended motion for this action is as follows:
“Move to approve Compensating Change Order No. 2 for the Pumphouse No. 4 Improvements thereby increasing the final contract amount by $6,796.50.”
