Why are you interested in serving on the Lake Elmo Finance Committee? As the past Chair of the Finance Committee I would like to continue the good and important work this committee has done the last two years for the residents of Lake Elmo. 2. What finance experience and qualifications do you have? I have a degree in accounting from UW- River Falls and I have owned a business for over 25+years . I handle the finance and operations for our companies. My accounting and finance skills have been effectively put to use as the finance chair for the last two years. As a past council member and finance chair I have in-depth knowledge of what has been and is occurring in Lake Elmo. 3. What additional experience and qualifications do you have that demonstrate your ability to support the Mission Statement and Goals of the City and service to the community through the Finance Committee? I am a past board member and finance committee member at St. Croix Catholic school. As a council member and Finance Chair Over the last two years I have made several financial recommendations that have helped the residents of Lake Elmo. Three examples are: 1. Create a cash flow model for our enterprise funds, 2. Have the landowners on the south end of Lake Elmo Avenue Commit money to pay for the water line extension along Lake Elmo Avenue and 3. Insist that developers pay for the infrastructure(growth shall pay for growth). I have also helped the finance committee and city implement performance based budgeting and the finance committee helped keep our residents tax rates low. I have a very good working relationship with staff and was awarded by staff"the Guardian of the Taxpayer"award in 2013. Finally, my knowledge and understanding of real estate and real estate development has helped Lake Elmo through the growth phase we are experiencing.
