Mayor Facilitates FISCAL IMPACT: None SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED: The terms of Library Board Members Steve DeLapp and Sarah Linder expired December 31, 2015. Both have indicated that they would like to be reappointed to the Board, and Alternate Margot Seileni would like to be appointed as a full Board Member. Additionally, Tom DeGree has applied to fill a vacancy that currently exists on the Board. LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: The Library Board took action at its January 13th meeting to eliminate the alternate positions and increase the Board from 7 members to 9 members. If the Council chooses to reappoint Steve DeLapp and Sarah Linder and appoint Margot Seileni and Tom DeGree, the Board will have 8 Members and one vacancy. The newly appointed and reappointed Members would serve three year terms that would expire December 31, 2018. BACKGROUND INFORMATION (SWOT): Strengths Appointing volunteers to fill vacancies on the Library Board ensures a quorum will be available at the meetings City Council Meeting [Regular Agenda Item] January 19, 2016 -- page 2 -- Weaknesses There are no identified weaknesses. Opportunities Filling current vacancies on the Library Board Threats There are no identified threats. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends filling vacancies on the Library Board with the following motion: “Motion to reappoint Steve DeLapp and Sarah Linder to the Library Board and appoint Margot Seileni and Tom Degree to the Library Board.” Additionally, staff recommends Council direct staff to post the vacant Library Board position on the City website and FRESH weekly email.
