FISCAL IMPACT: $9,100.00 This change order provides compensation to the contractor to compete additional work at the request for the City. With approval of this change order the revised contract amount is $2,037,215.25. SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED: The City Council is respectfully requested to consider approving, as part of the Consent Agenda, Change Order No. 2 for the Lake Elmo Avenue Trunk Watermain Improvements, thereby increasing the Contract amount by $9,100. If removed from the consent agenda, the recommended motion for the action is as follows: “Move to approve Change Order No. 2 for the Lake Elmo Avenue Trunk Watermain Improvements thereby increasing the contract amount by $9,100.00.” City Council Meeting [Consent Agenda Item 3] February 2, 2016 -- page 2 -- LEGISLATIVE HISTORY/BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This change order provides compensation to the contractor to compete additional work at the request for the City. The work includes two items; 1) time and mobilization to excavate and investigate a curb stop suspected of leaking at 3012 Lake Elmo Avenue and, 2) additional driveway pavement work along Lake Elmo Avenue to correct drainage issues along the entrance to several resident’s driveways. The above described changes were not included in the original contract and result in a contract increase of $9,100.00. The $9,100 amount is within the project contingency budget, therefore with this change order the total project budget remains within the authorized project budget. RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending that the City Council approve, as part of the Consent Agenda, Change Order No. 2 for the Lake Elmo Avenue Trunk Watermain Improvements, thereby increasing the Contract amount by $9,100. If removed from the consent agenda, the recommended motion for the action is as follows: “Move to approve Change Order No. 2 for the Lake Elmo Avenue Trunk Watermain Improvements thereby increasing the contract amount by $9,100.00.” ATTACHMENT(S): 1.
