With the exception of single family and two family dwellings, a detailed landscape plan shall be submitted for review and approval by the Zoning Administrator for all new developments, additions or modifications to existing developments or when changes are made to existing landscape plans. Landscape plans shall be prepared by a registered landscape architect or other qualified individual as determined by the Zoning Administrator. The landscape plan shall be drawn to a scale of not less than one inch equals 50 feet. The locations and materials which are to be used in landscaping existing and proposed developments shall be clearly drawn and labeled on a landscape plan. The plan shall, at a minimum, show the following: … (9) The location and details of irrigation systems. … f) Off street parking areas. (1) Off street parking areas with more than 25 parking stalls shall contain interior landscaped islands. Such islands shall be bounded by a raised concrete curb or approved equivalent and shall contain mulch to retain soil moisture. Turf grass is permitted within landscaped areas located around the periphery of a parking lot. This provision shall not apply to parking structures. e. All perimeter and interior landscaped areas in parking lots shall be equipped with a permanent irrigation system, unless drought-tolerant plant materials are used exclusively. Where drought-tolerant plant materials are used, irrigation shall be required only for the two-year period following plant installation and may be accomplished using hoses, water trucks, or other nonpermanent means. (l) Maintenance of Landscaping. (3) An underground sprinkler system shall be installed in all landscaped areas except areas to be preserved in a natural state or where all proposed plant materials are drought-tolerant. Where drought-tolerant plant materials are used, irrigation shall be required only for the two-year period following the installation and may be accomplished using hoses, water trucks or other nonpermanent means. Special Provisions, Planned Unit Development Process Sec. 36-367 (e) Submission requirements and procedure. (3) Preliminary PUD plan. An application for a preliminary PUD plan shall include all of the following information: c. A landscape plan showing the location, size, and species of all plant materials, a landscaping irrigation system plan, and all other nonvegetative landscaped features. Edina Sec. 10-20. - Security. The applicant shall also file with the planner security in the form of a performance bond, letter of credit, or cash deposit, as determined by the planner, to ensure that the landscaping, screening, or erosion control work is done pursuant to the site plan and within the time schedule therefor, all as set out in section 10-19, and to ensure the replacement of vegetative materials used in any such landscaping, screening or erosion control work that are not in a vigorous growing condition after two complete growing seasons as set out in this section. … Where such landscaping, screening or erosion control measures do not include the use of vegetative materials, the security therefor shall be in force until such landscaping, screening, or erosion control measures have been completed and approved by the planner. Where such landscaping, screening, or erosion control measures do include the use of vegetative materials, the security therefor shall be in force for at least two complete growing seasons subsequent to the completion and approval of such landscaping, screening, or erosion control measures by the planner. The planner may require security for one complete growing season if all landscaped areas are fully irrigated. The growing season guarantee period for plant material installed after June 1 shall begin the following year. (Code 1970; Code 1992, § 405.01(2); Ord. No. 409, 1-16-1980) Maple Grove Sec. 34-59. - Lawn sprinkler and irrigation systems. (a) Permit required. All lawn sprinkler systems and irrigation systems connected to the municipal water system, whether such systems are aboveground or underground, shall require a permit for connection and shall be installed in accordance with the plumbing code adopted by reference in chapter 8, article II. (b) Rain-detection device. To conserve water, all lawn sprinkler systems and irrigation systems which are automatic or are equipped to operate automatically, whether installed before or after May 26, 1993, and which are connected to the municipal water system, shall be equipped with a rain-detection device such as the Mini Click 11 rain sensor manufactured by Glen Hilton Products or its equal so as to prevent the system from operating when it rains. (Code 1984, § 245:74) Eagan, MN Irrigation system. 1. System required. (a) All landscape plans and implementation thereof required by this subdivision shall include an underground irrigation system in all districts except agricultural, R-1 single-family residential, and public parks. Planned development districts shall also be subject to the requirement unless the development is single-family residential. (b) Exception. If the property area to be landscaped is very large or reserved for future expansion or is to be kept in a natural state, an underground irrigation system is not required. 2. System specification. All irrigation systems shall be fully automatic programmable systems, capable of alternate date watering. Each system shall be capable of achieving one inch of precipitation per week under an alternate day watering regime. The system shall provide head to head coverage with uniform levels of total precipitation throughout all irrigated areas and shall provide full and equal coverage onto public rights-of-way to the back of curb. Systems which extend beyond private property onto public rights-of-way shall be subject to approval by the city under chapter 7 of the Code. The system shall meet state department of health standards and shall provide backflow preventers. All systems shall have a designated billing address.
