Why are you interested in serving on this Committee? I have lived in Lake Elmo for nearly two years now and have a vested interest in how the city grows. I have been following the City Council and Commission meetings and wanted to apply for the Planning Commission this January but there were no open positions. I'd like to be a part of how my end of town as well as all of Lake Elmo is planned for the future to help ensure we grow in a positive way when we do grow. 2. What experience and qualifications do you have that demonstrate your ability to support the Purpose and Scope of this Committee? I have a good understanding of Lake Elmo and have lived in many different cities both big and small around the country. I have seen city planning that went really well and I have seen failures to come up with plans that work best for a growing city.This along with my 12+years of Project Management and IT experience built on a Business Degree should be helpful tools to allow me to assume a position on this commission when an open seat becomes available. 3. What do you consider to be the major challenges facing the City of Lake Elmo regarding issues addressed by this Committee? I think growth has been difficult for many of the residents that have lived here a long time or moved here with the expectations that Lake Elmo wouldn't change. Being so close to a large metropolitan city I realize growth it's inevitable but I believe in doing it right. Elmo is a beautiful city and as it grows we want to ensure things are done the right way the first time so that we as residents,our children and future residents will be proud to call Lake Elmo home for many generations to come. To add I think the idea of large homes on small lots is also hard for some people, but I think if construction is done well there can be a balance here to make everyone or almost everyone happy. I think some of the issues probably come from communication and I think we are on the path to making that better. I'm open to listening to all residents and their feedback to help make the best decisions possible. 4. How much time do you have to contribute to the Committee including meeting preparation, meeting participation and other opportunities as they may exist? I have time to attend all meetings obviously unless a vacation or something like that could not be planned around it. My job doesn't require much travel if at all so that will not stop me from attending meetings. I will also have time to read all documents prior to the meeting to ensure I am well prepared and to follow up on items that need my attention. I am committed to putting in the time needed to help Lake Elmo.
