AGENDA ITEM: Approve Resolution Congratulating Lake Elmo Inn

BACKGROUND:
The Lake Elmo Inn has been named to Open Table’s list of the 100 Best Brunch Restaurants in
America. Open Table is an online reservation system for restaurants that provides reviews and
other information.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Should the Council recognize the accomplishment of the Lake Elmo Inn?
PROPOSAL:
The City Council is asked to recognize this achievement by adopting Resolution 2017-058
recognizing some of the accomplishments of the Lake Elmo Inn.
OPTIONS:
1. Adopt Resolution 2017-058
2. Do not adopt Resolution 2017-058
RECOMMENDATION:
If removed from the consent agenda, staff recommends the following motion:
“Motion to approve Resolution 2017-058 Congratulating the Lake Elmo Inn on being
named in Open Table’s 100 Best Brunch Restaurants in America”

RESOLUTION NO. 2017-058
A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE LAKE ELMO INN ON BEING
NAMED IN OPEN TABLE’S 100 BEST BRUNCH RESTAURANTS IN
AMERICA
WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo Inn restaurant is operated in the heart of downtown
Lake Elmo; and
WHEREAS, a restaurant has operated at the location of the Lake Elmo Inn since
1881; and
WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo Inn currently employs approximately 140 people; and
WHEREAS, Lake Elmo Inn owners Chris and John Schiltz received the
Cornerstone 2013 Humanitarian award for their commitment to helping others; and
WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo Inn restaurant has received numerous awards over the
years, including the 2014 Restaurant of the Year award from the Minnesota Restaurant
Association; and
WHEREAS, Lake Elmo Inn Owner/Chef John Schiltz has received numerous
awards including Restauranteur of the year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Lake Elmo, Minnesota, does hereby congratulate the Lake Elmo Inn restaurant on being
named in Open Table’s 100 Best Brunch Restaurants in America and thanks the owners
and staff for their contributions to the community.
