AGENDA ITEM: Part Time Firefighter Job Offer to Paul Jorgensen, Jeremy Penman, Dominic
Jara and Larry Cornell.

BACKGROUND:
The City advertised for applications for Part Time Firefighter positions. On Wednesday, September 6,
2017, internal Paid on Call applicants were interviewed by staff for the position of Part Time Firefighter.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
To make a job offer to Paul Jorgensen, Jeremy Penman, Dominic Jara and Larry Cornell as Part
Time Firefighters.
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS:
Staff is recommending the Council make the job offer to all four applicants. The hiring of these four
applicats, combined with the two external candidaes will meet our target of six Part Time Firefighters.
All the applicants are currently Paid On Call Firefighters with Lake Elmo FD. Upon approval, they will be
able to start in their role as Part Time Fireifhgters and begin providing daytime coverage immediately. They
will also continue on the department as Paid On Call Firefighters.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Wage of $17.00/hour when shift coverage starts.
OPTIONS:
1) Make job offer to the four applicants.
2) Do not make job ofer to the four applicants.
RECOMMENDATION:
If removed from consent agenda:
Motion of a job offer to Paul Jorgensen, Jeremy Penman, Dominic Jara and Larry Cornell as Part
Time Firefighters.
