SUMMARY:
At the September 17, 2007 Park Commission meeting, Steve Hobbs and Colleen Danford presented information on the Lucy Winton Bell Athletic Fields – a sports complex located in the city
of Afton. At that time, Mr. Hobbs and Ms. Danford requested donations from Lake Elmo to assist in funding improvements to the complex which is used by residents from many Washington
County communities. At the September meeting, the Park Commission requested the number of Lake Elmo children who participated in activities at the facility be provided.
Ms. Danford has requested to speak again in front of the Park Commission to provide the number of Lake Elmo children who use the complex as requested from the commission. They are requesting
$8 per child ($12,136.00 total) be donated each year from Lake Elmo for the next five years to support the Lucy Winton Bell Athletic Fields.
The money is unable to be allocated from the Parks Dedication fund (CIP dollars) due to strict legal requirements. The 2008 general fund budget does not include this as a line item
and is not currently budgeted.
RECOMMENDATION:
If the commission determines this project should be considered as a line item for the 2008 general fund budget, the commission may recommend Ms. Danford request an amendment to the 2008
general fund budget from the Lake Elmo City Council.
