ITEM: Discussion on Sunfish Lake Park Area 2 concept plan development.

SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED:
The recently approved Sunfish Lake Park Conservation Easement to the Minnesota Land Trust
states that Area 2 of the park, a 20 acre portion, may have limited development for education,
outdoor recreation and nature observation purposes, in accordance with a city approved park
concept plan. This city is to provide the Land Trust with a concept plan by late 2009.
At the February meeting, members asked for a copy of the narrative drafted by David Steele back
in August of ’08 that pertains to the definition of uses / improvements / structures to be allowed in
Area 2 of the park. A blank “footprint” of the park was also requested for planning purposes.
The Parks Commission might want to schedule a visit to this park to assist in the planning
process.
