ITEM: Update on the Minnesota DNR Metro Greenway Grant for Sunfish Lake Park

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
A grant application for a prairie restoration in area 2 of Sunfish Lake Park was made to the DNR’s
Metro Greenways Grant Program. Unofficial word has been received that the project is being
recommended for funding and we should receive official notification of the award in the very near
future. The city has been encouraged to being planning for the implementation of the project
now. Project related costs are likely going to be retroactive to August 1 of this year
Staff will outline a suggested task list and activities related to implementing the project this fall.
Action requested:
Motion in support of requesting requests for proposals from prairie restoration firms for desired
services.
