ITEM: Metro Greenways grant update and implementation plan

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Project Assistant Kriegler will provide an update on the status of the two DNR Metro Greenways
Grants the City has been awarded for Sunfish Lake Park. Draft grant agreements for both the
restoration and conservation planning grants have been reviewed by staff. Final grant
agreements are expected soon.
An update will be provided including an overview of the restoration project RFP and anticipated
project implementation activities and schedules.
ACTION REQUESTED:
The appointment of a small working group (2 park commission members) to participate in a
restoration project committee that would serve to review / oversee activities associated with
implementation of the project. Councilmember Emmons has expressed an interest in lending his
knowledge and expertise on the subject, specifically the construction of rain gardens on the site.
