Subject: Trail Easement – Through Fields of St. Croix
Park Commission Member Rolf Larson has been working with the Fields of St. Croix HOA to
secure public easement rights over a portion of the now-private trail system within the Fields of
St. Croix subdivision. The goal is to create a public trail link between where the public trail now
ends on 50th Street and the Old Village.
The HOA’s annual meeting will be held in September at which time, the HOA will discuss
working with the City on this project.
Landscaping and Signage
If some of the currently private trails become public, it will be important to clearly identify where
the public and private trails are located. Attached you will find suggested signage and trail
separators. An island in the trail way would provide a narrowed trail entry, making it visibly
differentiated. This island together with a “Private Trail” sign would separate the public from the
private while adding style to the transition.
Park Commission Actions Requested:
Motion to recommend continuing with the project to secure a public easement over a portion of
the now-private trail system within the Fields of St. Croix in order to link existing public trails.
Motion to recommend signage and trail designation designs.
