This is a mockup of the two trail junction (city to private trail) for the pro-posed Fields of St. Croix section of the city trail system.
Intersection: This mock up of the two intersections in the proposed Fields of St. Croix section of the city trail system shows island placment, design and signage. Note that the intersection has an island of vegeta-tion with narrower entrance points on either side of the island. This will make the distinctions between public and private trail clear in a stylish, inexpensive manner. The choice of plants presented here for the island are presented to scale, not to plant choice. The grass (long bluestem grass) is a potential choice. The tree pictured (blue spruce) is not a good choice but for purposes of this mock up, creates the effect of dividing space. An appropriate shrub or small evergreen needs to be selected. Ideally, that would be a native Minnesota plant.
Signage: Two signs are presented. If city trail art is to be included with the sign, the sign needs to be dark lettering with a light background. The second choice is the traditional sign with the brown background with crème lettering. If this option is used, the city art needs to be simplified (if used at all).
